Coversely, any tree with a Chestnut like leaf found in Piedment and Coastal Plain Ga. can only be a Swamp Chestnut Oak. Cannot be an either/or. By definition, a "Chestnut like" leaf would be a leaf that is somewhat broad and has dentate (toothed) margins (edges) with shallow lobes.
I was walking around the Emory Oxford campus and found these oaks I have not seen before. These were from a tree with a diameter about 12 inches. The acorns were on the tree and basically completely enclosed. There were a few on the ground too.
Got three of the 300's. Oldest is probably 5-6 years old. I leave mine in the woods all season long and never any problem. I have the pads for each one and keep them in the HD black plastic leaf bags with each stand. A few bottles of water and some snacks and I can sit all day long. My leaf blower will blow them jokers into the next county. Works great on leaves, moss, and sweetgum balls. I have the Worx Model # WG519. I bought it about 4 years ago, and it's still going strong. I think it's a very nice blower, and it's electric. Here's the link to it, if interested.
For me, most of the camo patterns are too dark. Up close they look OK, but from a distance everything in the pattern blends in and you just look like the dark outline of a human, especially if you're up in a relatively open tree stand, and even more so if you're highlighted against the sky.
You know another thread reminded me of this, but water oaks grown pretty dang fast. I know i know. Also a native tree i hear people use alot is a nuttall oak. From further west towards Mississippi river area i think, but still a native tree. Also supposed to be a fast growing oak. Better maybe than using sawtooths.
