iPhone charging problem. What’s the cause? My iPhone 6s charges at home but not in the car using the same cable. At home it does make noises like it’s connecting and disconnecting sometimes. The weird thing is it doesn’t charge using my wife’s cable at home (which works fine on her phone). The phone charges only on my cable at home.
If it is only 1/2 amp it will not be able to. An adapter that can supply more than one amp can be used, but that won't change the charging rate because the internal charger in the phone limits the rate to 1 amp. CORRECTION: I just measured. An iPhone 6 can draw up to 1.5 amps if the adapter can supply it. Interesting!
The old Cigarette Lighter connection was designed to supply 12V DC power only. ... iPhone 13 car adapter ...
A cigarette lighter adapter one (that doesn't even buzz or recognise it), and then another one coming straight from the glovebox that is attached to the electronics directly, that has a female usb plug that I can connect my home cable to (this one buzzes as if charging, then bolt disappears almost immediately). Please let me know what I can do.

Hi, you can check this: If your iPhone or iPod touch won't charge. Download the latest iOS software update, go to Settings > General > Software Update. You can also reset all settings on your phone, go to Settings > General > Reset > Reset All Settings. You can restore your phone as new: How to back up your iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch
The cigarette lighter, which I have, will recharge, but in order to hear it through the car, you need an auxiliary cord ( both ends look like the plug that goes into the earphone jack), plus an adapter that you can buy from Apple for $10 online, and then it will play through the car, if I could ever figure out how.
The power from an AC outlet is very clean. Within reason, the Apple power adapter will handle power surges, noise, and brownouts without any problem - the adapter has over-voltage, over-current, and thermal protection built-in. Any happenstance that can't be handled properly will cause the power adapter to shut down.
When I try to charge my iphone6 using the USB on the cigarette lighter charger, I get a message on the phone that says "incompatible device" or something like that.
Those are much more common. USB-C ports are smaller and rounded on the ends. In either case, you just need to get the right type of cable to connect it to your iPhone. My F-350 has both, and I bought a USB-C to Lightning cable to use my iPhone XS for CarPlay and keep the other port available for other devices.
