Josefina Howard was a Cuban-born Spanish chef and restaurateur who helped popularise regional Mexican cuisine in New York. She founded a chain of restaurants called Rosa Mexicano, which was described in 1993 as "one of the few luxury Mexican restaurants in New York", and Howard was credited with bringing the "real elegance of Mexican food - its refined international flavour" to New York.
Rosa Lewis (née Ovenden; 1867–1952) was an English cook and owner of The Cavendish Hotel in London, located at the intersection of Jermyn Street and Duke Street, St. James. [1] Known as the "Queen of Cooks", her culinary skills were highly prized by Edward VII , with whom she was rumoured to have had an affair in the 1890s.
Rosa Food Products was started in Philadelphia in the year 1900 by Giacomo Foti. He named his store and products Rosa after his wife. At first it was only a small store on the corner of 13th and Federal Streets in Philadelphia. Over time, hundreds of stores bearing the Rosa name were created.
