Frank Henry Mason (1 October 1875 – 24 February 1965), RBA, RI, RSMA was an English artist best known for his maritime, shipping, coastal and harbour paintings, and as a creator of art deco travel and railway posters.
Subsequently, the painting was bought by the Parisian dealer Paul Durand-Ruel, and then became the property of the Musée des Beaux-Arts de Lyon in 1902. The museum was a forerunner in the collecting of early 20th century Impressionist paintings. [2] The painting is composed of four major elements, each painted in a different way.

Art Deco, short for the French Arts décoratifs (lit. ' Decorative Arts '), [1] is a style of visual arts, architecture, and product design, that first appeared in Paris in the 1910s (just before World War I), [2] and flourished in the United States and Europe during the 1920s to early 1930s.
The various elements of the painting are unified through brushwork; short, crisp strokes were used to paint the grasses of the cliff, the girls' drapery and the distant sea.
