This is a list of artists who create contemporary art, i.e., those whose peak of activity can be situated somewhere between the 1970s (the advent of postmodernism) and the present day. Artists on this list meet the following criteria:
Panoramic Landscape, c. 1625; oil on canvas, mounted on panel Museum Boymans-van Beuningen, only attributed to Seghers since 1951. [8]Hercules Seghers was probably best known to his contemporaries for his paintings of landscapes and still-life subjects such as The River Valley; his paintings are also rare, with perhaps only fifteen surviving (one was destroyed in a fire in October 2007 [9]).
Spring Fresco, Minoan painting from Akrotiri, 1600–1500 BCE Zhan Ziqian, Strolling About in Spring, a very early Chinese landscape, c. 600. The earliest forms of art around the world depict little that could really be called landscape, although ground-lines and sometimes indications of mountains, trees or other natural features are included.
In 2018, Perry had his first museum exhibition, titled National Lilypond Songs, at the Urban Institute for Contemporary Art in Grand Rapids, Michigan. The show featured depictions of the American landscape, and was considered as a major shift for Perry. [19] The style of painting was compared to the artworks of Andrew Wyeth and Grant Wood. [20] [1]
