Praia d'El Rey Golf & Beach Resort is a commercial tourism, golf and residential beach resort on Portugal's western Atlantic coast 106 kilometres north of the country's capital, Lisbon. It covers an area of 240 acres (0.97 km 2) and is between the fishing town of Peniche, in Oeste Subregion, to the south and Obidos Lagoon to its north.
One site, the Laurisilva, is located in the island of Madeira and is Portugal's only natural site; the other sites are cultural. Two sites are located in the Azores archipelago. The Prehistoric Rock Art Sites in the Côa Valley and Siega Verde is shared with Spain, making it Portugal's only transnational site. [3]
Obidos is also famous for its bookstores. There are 14 bookstores, one of which is in a church, another one, the Livraria do Mercado Biológico, sells fish as well as books. [5] In 2013, the town administration of Óbidos developed a municipal literature programme which included the creation of an international literary festival.
