Hey Gang, I bought a 1980 ODay 30 and its time to upgrade the electronics. The boat came with a Garmin GPS 120 (probably 25 years old), which works with the power on, very difficult to read and is obviously outdated. No radar on the boat. I was given a Raymarine C80 Chart Plotter which also...
Hi everyone, very new owner of a H34 hull #68 learning a lot. The boat came with a Raymarine C80 chart plotter I am installing an EV-100 autopilot that has the new SeaTalk -ng connections. If I understand everything I read online the two different systems can operate together by splicing the lines.
I have a 2006 Hunter 44cc with the original Raymarine C80 chartplotter, GPS, radar, and autopilot. I am looking for recommendations or resources to determine the best replacement strategy to bring it up to current technology.
I am presently upgrading my Raymarine 435 chartplotter to a Raymarine C80 plotter along with a Raystar 125 GPS Antenna. My present setup on my '06 Ben 343, with a 435 chartplotter, has a DC power line from the "auto pilot" panel breaker to the autopilot. The ST60 wind, speed/depth instruments...
I finally found someone on the Raymarine forum who had the same issue. The circuit board on the bottom of the display uses a hard connector (not a ribbon style) that lost it's connection. I disassembled the unit and cleaned it, reassembled it after firmly pressing on the connector and it is still working today 5 yrs later.
When I purchased the boat 8 years ago it had the original C80 mfd. I had to update my C80 mfd to download the navionics for Georgian bay. I purchased the new card and cable to connect the card to my desktop the download was successful. This past year I upgraded the Raymarine C80 chart plotter, the autopilot with the new Raymarine equipment.
Beware that you have to update the firmware on the C80 before upgrading to the new charts. That involves a free download from Raymarine onto a separate cf card (64mb card) and installing the upgrade on the C80, prior to installing the new charts. The final firmware update was a few years ago, and Raymarine has discontinued any further updates.

I have a 2006 Hunter 45cc with the Raymarine C80 Chartplotter. I had the C80 replaced with a salvaged unit recently, but it seems to have failed again. I had replaced the unit when it kept loosing communication with the autopilot. But yesterday, the newer screen went to black while I was...
