Middlebury is a town in New Haven County, Connecticut, United States. The population was 7,574 at the 2020 census. [1] The town is part of the Naugatuck Valley Planning Region. It is a suburb of the nearby city of Waterbury to its south, and is on the northern fringe of the New York metropolitan area.
Pomperaug was built in 1979 on the border between Southbury and Middlebury, the two communities which it serves. In 1969, teachers from the Wappingers Central school district decided to create an alternative to the banks they had been using. Desiring a financial institution that would provide fair and equitable treatment, they successfully chartered the Wappingers Central Federal Credit on April 25, 1969, with the National Credit Union Administration (NCUA).
