Utz Brands, Inc. (/ ˈ ʌ t s /), more commonly known as Utz, is an American snack food company [7] based in Hanover, Pennsylvania. The company produces a variety of potato chips , pretzels , and other snacks, with most products sold under their family of brands.
On October 19, 2011, Wachusett was sold to Hanover, PA-based Utz Quality Foods, Inc. [1] Utz paid $1.7 million for Wachusett's 56,000 square-foot facility. [5] Utz announced that Wachusett's 50 employees would be kept on, including members of the Krysiak family. [5] The company operated as a subsidiary of Utz.
In 1956, Sloan Bashinsky Sr bought Magic City Foods from his father and uncle. He changed the name to "Golden Flake" a year later and, in 1958 moved the production facility to its current 5-acre site. In 1963 he oversaw the acquisition of Don's Foods, a Nashville, Tennessee-based snack producer and distributor. [3]

Michael W. Rice (born December 9, 1943), son of Francis Xavier Rice and Arlene (Utz) Rice of Hanover, Pennsylvania, is an American and director, chairman emeritus, and special advisor to Utz of Utz Quality Foods, Inc. Rice previously was executive chairman which he assumed in December 2012 following his role as chairman of the board and chief executive officer of Utz from 1992 until 2012.
