Buescher State Park is a state park located just north of Smithville, Texas. The park consists of 1,016.7 acres (411 ha) of public land donated to the state by Mr. Emil and Mrs. Elizabeth Buescher, as well as the City of Smithville.
The Smithville Visitor Center, James H. Long Railroad Museum & Chamber of Commerce, located at 100 Main Street in Smithville, contains exhibits and relics from Smithville's railroad history. The Smithville post office contains an oil on canvas mural, The Law, Texas Rangers , painted in 1939 by Minette Teichmueller .

McKinney Falls State Park welcomed just under 310,000 visitors in 2023. The park is open from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. Adult entrance fees are $6 per day, and children under 12 get in free.
