The Ahmednagar Fort (Ahmadnagar Qilaa) is a fort located close to the Bhingar Nala near Ahmednagar in [1] Maharashtra state western India. It was the headquarters of the Ahmednagar Sultanate. In 1803, it was taken by the British during the Second Anglo-Maratha War. It was used as a prison during the British Raj.
Ahmednagar and Sangamner are the largest cities in the district. It was the seat of the Ahmednagar Sultanate of late medieval period (1496–1636 CE).
