The Boxer (Korean: 더 복서; RR: Deo Bogseo) is a South Korean manhwa released as a webtoon written and illustrated by Jung Ji-Hoon. It was serialized via Naver Corporation 's webtoon platform Naver Webtoon from December 2019 to June 2022, with the individual chapters collected and published into 10 volumes.
Hajime no Ippo (はじめの一歩, lit. The story follows a young boxer named Joe Yabuki, who lives in the Tokyo slums. Ashita no Joe was first serialized by Kodansha in Weekly Shonen Magazine from January 1, 1968, to May 13, 1973, and was later collected into 20 tankōbon volumes. Joe went on to become iconic in manga history, influencing real boxers and other fictional characters, most notably Kyo Kusanagi and Gearless Joe. The character's final fate has been ambiguous which was a major hit in manga history but Chiba often saying he did not give him a particular fate as he had no idea how to close the manga.
