Carl Milton Smith (March 15, 1927 – January 16, 2010) was an American country singer. [ 1 ] [ 2 ] [ 3 ] Known as "Mister Country", he was one of the genre's most successful male artists during the 1950s, scoring 30 top-10 Billboard hits (21 of which were consecutive).
Smith has been given honors and achievements as part of her legacy. In 2002, she was ranked in the top ten on CMT's televised special of the 40 Greatest Women of Country Music. [97] In 2011, she was inducted into the West Virginia Music Hall of Fame. [98] Alongside Garth Brooks, Smith was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame in 2012.
