Ram Manohar Lohia (pronunciation ⓘ 23 March 1910 – 12 October 1967) was an Indian freedom fighter of the Indian independence movement and a socialist politician. As a nationalist, he worked actively to protest against colonialism , raising awareness of the same.

[3] [4] In March 1954 the PSP had formed a minority government in the Travancore-Cochin State led by Pattom A. Thanu Pillai, with support from the Indian National Congress.
The news of Lohia's arrest spread throughout India. Mahatma Gandhi then wrote to the Portuguese Governor-General, stating that "in free India Goa can not be allowed to exist as a separate entity in opposition to the laws of the free state." Along with activist Juliao Menezes, he hosted a pro-independence gathering lohia maidan, margao in 1946 where the crowd responded by hailing India, Gandhi and the two men, leading to the duo's arrest by colonial authorities who feared civil unrest. In 1965, Ram Manohar Lohia merged his Socialist Party (Lohia) with SSP and contested in 1967 Indian general election. In 1972, SSP was reunited with PSP, forming the Socialist Party . [ 2 ] But in December 1972, SSP was recreated after the split in Socialist Party . [ 3 ]
