Baird ISD is an open transfer district. We accept transfers from out-of-district students on a continuous basis for students from pre-kindergarten to grade 12. Transfer students are held to the same high standards, achievement, leadership, and respect as all of our students.

Baird ISD is now accepting referrals for students who may need Gifted/Talented Services for the school year. This program is designed for students who exhibit intellectual and creative thinking abilities at an extraordinary level, not normally served in the regular classroom.

Baird ISD is offering a half-day Pre-K program for 3 year old students at Day Nursery of Abilene. The program is FREE for children who are eligible. See below for eligibility requirements.
Baird ISD is offering a Full Day Pre-K program for qualifying 3 year old students. Breakfast and Lunch provided . Pre-Kindergarten is not a mandatory program. However, if your child qualifies and is enrolled, he/she is subject to compulsory attendance law. Your child must attend school each day school is in session.
