Louise Arnold Tanger Arboretum (5 acres) is an arboretum located on the grounds of the Lancaster County Historical Society at 230 North President Avenue, Lancaster, Pennsylvania. The arboretum is open to the public daily. The arboretum was established in 1959 after botanist Louise Arnold Tanger offered to plant trees on the grounds. [1]
The campus design was inspired by the Forest Park design for the 1904 St. Louis World's Fair which evolved into the campus for Washington University. In 1993, the state legislature designated Northwest the official Missouri State Arboretum. Thomas Gaunt first started planting trees on the campus when he moved to Maryville in 1857.

The arboretum was created by the Bells Garden Club in 2001 and included about 30 varieties of trees indigenous to the area. The club named the arboretum in honor of deceased garden club member Louise Pearson.
