Christopher is located 20 miles northeast of Carbondale, Illinois at (37.972099, -89.052911 [ 12 ] According to the 2021 census gazetteer files, Christopher has a total area of 1.64 square miles (4.25 km 2 ), of which 1.62 square miles (4.20 km 2 ) (or 99.08%) is land and 0.02 square miles (0.05 km 2 ) (or 0.92%) is water.

Illinois Route 37, Illinois 37 or IL 37, is a 155.07-mile-long (249.56 km) north–south state highway in southern Illinois. IL 37's southern terminus is at U.S. Route 51 (US 51) and IL 3 in Cairo and the northern terminus is at US 45 in Watson .

Murphysboro is a city in and the county seat of Jackson County, Illinois, United States. [3] The population was 7,093 at the 2020 census. The city is part of the Metro Lakeland area. The mayor of Murphysboro is Will Stephens. The government consists of the mayor and 10 city aldermen.
