In September 1987, car dealer Bill Mowbray shot himself in his bed, while his wife, Susie Mowbray, was lying next to him. Despite the fact that Bill had been threatening to commit suicide for months over financial troubles, the police zeroed in on Susie as the culprit and charged her with first-degree murder.
When it turns out Bill has an aptitude for football, he pretends to be Jimmy and joins the school's team. Both brothers end up falling for co-ed Kay Merrill, who is offended by Jimmy's aggressive behavior, not realizing it was really Bill. A gangster, Townley, wants the big game to be lost on purpose so he can collect his gambling debts.
Mowbray appeared in five more pictures in 1931, notably portraying George Washington in Alexander Hamilton. In 1935, he played one of the male leads in Becky Sharp , the first feature-length film in full-colour Technicolor , as well as playing the lead in the farcical Night Life of the Gods , based on a Thorne Smith novel.

Anthony Mark Mowbray (born 22 November 1963) is an English football manager and former footballer who is the currently manager of EFL Championship club West Bromwich Albion. Mowbray played for Middlesbrough , Celtic and Ipswich Town as a defender .

In 1973, Mowbray returned to Scotland to sign for St Mirren for the 1973–74 season. He then played in Australia, joining Eastern Suburbs Hakoah in 1974. He played in Hakoah's first two seasons in the National Soccer League in 1977 and 1978. [5] [6] [7] He died on 8 July 2022. [8]
