The Missouri Department of Conservation (MDC) administers hundreds of parcels of land in all counties of the state. Most areas are owned by the department; some are leased by the department; some areas are managed under contract by the department; and some areas are leased to other entities for management.
Fellows Lake is an 860-acre (3.5 km 2) source of water for the city of Springfield, Missouri. The lake was created by the impoundment of the Little Sac River behind the Fellows Lake Dam. The dam was originally constructed in 1955 and modified in 1991. The earthen and rock dam stands 102 feet (31 m) high.

The conservation area, which is located in eastern St. Louis County, Missouri, north of the city of St. Louis, is operated by the Missouri Department of Conservation.

Spring Lake is a mid-sized fishing lake, offering two public use areas with two beaches. Small fishing boats with under 10 hp motors are allowed.

Stockton Lake is a reservoir located in southeastern Cedar County, northeastern Dade County, and southwestern Polk County, Missouri. The lake is V-shaped, and covers 39 square miles (100 km 2), with 298 miles (480 km) of shoreline. It has three marinas, and 10 public-use areas.
An average of 100 million gallons of water flows from the Spring daily. Maramec Spring Park contains 1,860 acres of forest and fields. The 200-acre public use area of the park provides many amenities and activities for visitors such as a cafe, store, camping, wildlife viewing, fish feeding, picnicking, shelters, playgrounds and fishing.
