Guam Daily News began as a newspaper of the United States Navy, published under various titles. Joseph Flores, later the Governor of Guam, bought the newspaper in 1950. [1] In 1970, a group of purchasers headed by the Honolulu Star-Bulletin acquired the Guam Daily News for an undisclosed price. [2]
The paper started in 2004 as the Guam edition of the Marianas Variety, which is based in Saipan. [1]Ho S. Eun, the owner of local construction firm Core Tech International, bought the paper in 2015 and renamed it to The Guam Daily Post, when the newspaper was reportedly not making a profit.

Flores returned to Guam in 1947 to partner with his brothers Joaquin and Jesus Flores in an import company called Flores Brothers in Hagåtña. Upon his return, he purchased the Naval newspaper publication Guam News for $37,000 in 1950, renaming it the Guam Daily News and making Flores the first local newspaper publisher in Guam.
