Stourbridge (/ ˈ s t aʊər b r ɪ dʒ /) is a market town in the Metropolitan Borough of Dudley in the West Midlands, England.Situated on the River Stour, the town lies around 11 miles (18 kilometres) west of Birmingham, at the southwestern edge of the Black Country conurbation.

From Stourton Junction (near Prestwood), the Stourbridge Canal led to Stourbridge, thus shadowing the upper Stour, while branches led towards collieries near Brierley Hill and linked to the Dudley Canal. These were all built in the late 18th century, effectively creating a canal network parallel to the river network.
The area now known as Norton originally fell within the parish of Oldswinford before becoming part of the Municipal Borough of Stourbridge. Following a roundabout in Hagley the A491 is concurrent with the A456 for a short period before heading north towards Stourbridge. At Pedmore the A4036 leaves at a roundabout towards Dudley. The former northern section of the A450 (now B4187) from Worcester joins from the left. The A491 then continues to join the Stourbridge ring road.
