I tested some factory ammo this weekend my 6.5 to find s backup. I tested Berger 140 hybrid, Hornady 140 Eldm, and Sig 140 Elite. Each was a 5 shot test with a Magnetospeed V3. This is a small sample but gives an idea. Berger 140 average mv 2822 w/ an SD of 22.8. Hornady Eldm 140 average mv 2695 w/ an SD of 19.6.
I recently used Berger 144 gr and 153.5 gr LRHT factory loaded ammo to reach 2428 yards with my stock Ruger precision rifle in 6.5 Creedmoor. Hornady 147 gr was good in my rifle up to 1500 yards. I have tried lots of other 140 gr brands -- Sig Sauer, Federal premium, Norma, Hornady, Black Hills, Nosler, Barnes.
This was the first day testing in custom 6.5 Creedmoor. This performance was from a 20" Proof carbon fiber barrel. Average according to LabRadar was 2663. Shot one round at 200 to check zero which was exactly the same as 143 ELD-X. Then I fired four rounds at 504 yards.
768. 1,067. Phoenix, AZ. Feb 3, 2020. #2. The Hornady American gunner 140 gr (I suspect it is the same round as the Hornady Black since they are both 140 gr BTHP) works well for practice ammo, but has a higher SD than the Hornady Match so velocity spread (vertical stringing) at distances over 600 yards is noticeable.
Jul 17, 2020. #1. Quick Range report for you: Hornady American Gunner 140GR BTHP has been my load of choice for my B14HMR for the last 600 rounds, overall I really like the round and think it is the best bang for my buck. It generally shoots between 1MOA and .75 on paper at 100 yards. Usually out of my B14 my MV is average of 2630FPS.
Hi All, I have a custom 6.5 creedmoor rifle built on MPA chassis, 27 inch patriot valley heavy barrell, timney trigger and TL3 action. Looking to participate in prs matches. Can some experienced guys recommend good factory ammo in 6.5 creed? Thanks for your time and attention !
Jul 2, 2020. #41. I've shot some Magtech 140 FMJ 6.5 Creedmoor (Same parent company as S&B) in by Rem 700 and my gas gun and it shoots great in both. The velocity is a little on the slow side (2,670 in my 24") and the BC is a little low but the SD is low and it shoots very accurately.
Yes--the 140gr ELD-M is a quite popular bullet and cost effective. (#2 for those that don't want to clicky). The Hornady stuff seems to go through spurts, they were out until just this weekend. I had a alert setup for back in stock. As always--every rifle is different, but its a good start. Also Frank like to talk in the podcast about shooting ...
8. Upstate New York. May 27, 2020. #1. Hi everyone, first post so I apologize if this is the wrong place for this. I’m just getting into long range shooting and was wondering if anyone had any experience with the Norma Match 6.5 Creedmoor ammo. My limited research makes it seem like it’s for all intents and purposes an equal (I’ve seen ...
9. 4. Sep 26, 2020. #18. I just started testing out ammo in my new 24" 6.5 CM Bergara HMR. So far Hornady Match ELD 120 gr and 140 gr both provided sub moa 5 shot groups. The 120s have looked a little better, but I'm happy with either one depending on local availability. S.
