Jefferson State Community College (informally Jeff State) is a public community college with multiple campuses in Alabama, including the Jefferson Campus in northeastern Birmingham, Alabama (eastern Jefferson County), the Shelby-Hoover Campus in northern Shelby County, the St. Clair-Pell City Campus in Pell City, and the Chilton-Clanton Campus in Clanton.

Established on November 7, 1961, Jefferson Community College was the area's first institution of higher education and remains the only college with a campus in a 50 miles (80 km) radius. It was initially accredited in 1969, and is the only college in the State University of New York (SUNY) System with a zoo technology degree program.
Eastern Gateway Community College was a public community college with a main campus in Steubenville, Ohio, and a branch campus in Youngstown, Ohio.Although the college was accredited by the Higher Learning Commission, its accreditor placed the college on probation in 2021 for concerns about "assessment, HR record keeping, and data collection and analysis."
Jefferson College Arnold was opened in 2007 to expand educational services to those in northern Jefferson County. The 40,000 square feet (3,700 m 2 ) facility is located at 1687 Missouri State Road behind the Arnold Library and Recreation Center.
The Southwest Campus is located in southwestern Jefferson County, just off the Gene Snyder Expressway. The Southwest Campus is home to the college's Technology and Related Sciences program. Jefferson's newest campus is in Bullitt County and prepares students to transfer to university or to the college's technical programs.
