Billie Joe Armstrong (born February 17, 1972) is an American musician and actor. He is best known for being the lead vocalist, guitarist, and primary songwriter of the rock band Green Day, which he co-founded with Mike Dirnt in 1987.
At age 23, Freese was a year and a half away from graduation when an opportunity came up to go on tour with Joe Walsh of The Eagles. After the Joe Walsh tour, Freese joined the Goo Goo Dolls. At the time, the Goo Goo Dolls had the same manager as Green Day. [1] Freese has performed as a studio musician and touring member in Green Day since 2004.
