Formerly a North Penn Bus Company bus route that replaced Lehigh Valley Transit's "Liberty Bell Limited" service between Lansdale and Norristown. Service was taken over by Schuylkill Valley Lines. This was one of SEPTA's original Frontier bus routes started on March 7, 1977. Service only operated as far north as Penn Square originally.
