The difference is that whilst D1 has a 4:3 aspect ratio 960H has a 16:9 widescreen aspect ratio. The extra pixels are used to form the increased area to the sides of the D1 image. The pixel density of 960H is identical to standard D1 resolution so it does not give any improvement in image quality, merely a wider aspect ratio.
The Display pixel interface (DPI) is the interface defined by the Mobile Industry Processor Interface (MIPI), [1] which is used for Active-Matrix LCD displays for handheld devices. It is intended for the display modules in the mobile devices.
(Early models used a 384×256 screen; both standards are cut down from the 720×364 of the preceding Lisa model) 512×342 (175k) 512 342 175,104 Very nearly 3:2 (to within 0.2%); 256:171 exact. Displayed with square pixels on a moderately wide-screen monitor (equivalent to 16:10.67 in modern terms). 1 bpp: Hercules
A typical use is to allow mobile device software to scale the display of information and user interaction to different screen sizes. The abstraction allows an application to work in pixels as a measurement, while the underlying graphics system converts the abstract pixel measurements of the application into real pixel measurements appropriate ...
The basis for this otherwise odd seeming resolution is similar to that of other "wide" standards – the line scan (refresh) rate of the well-established "XGA" standard (1024 × 768 pixels, 4:3 aspect ratio) extended to give square pixels on the increasingly popular 16:9 widescreen display ratio without having to effect major signalling changes ...
[1] [2] In March 2022, 9to5Google reported that the company was developing a Google Assistant–powered smart display similar to the Nest Hub with a detachable tablet-style screen. [ 3 ] [ 4 ] On May 11, during the 2022 Google I/O keynote, Google unveiled a preview at an upcoming Pixel -branded Android tablet powered by the Google Tensor system ...
The apparent PPI of a monitor depends upon the screen resolution (that is, the number of pixels) and the size of the screen in use; a monitor in 800×600 mode has a lower PPI than does the same monitor in a 1024×768 or 1280×960 mode. The dot pitch of a computer display determines the absolute limit of possible pixel density.
In the (2880)x480i case, the number of pixels on each line, and thus the number of times that they are repeated, is variable, and is sent to the DTV monitor by the source device. Increased Hactive expressions include “2x” and “4x” indicate two and four times the reference resolution, respectively.
