The Huron Sunrise Trail is a 11-mile (18 km) bicycle and hiking trail in Michigan that follows a section of the shoreline of Lake Huron north and west of Rogers City, Michigan. The trail is entirely contained within Presque Isle County, largely follows a section of the former roadbed of the Detroit and Mackinac Railway. [1] [2]
The heavily wooded Hoeft State Park sits on 1 mile (1.6 km) of Lake Huron shoreline and offers 144 campsites along with 4 miles (6.4 km) of hiking trails, hunting, playgrounds, a picnic pavilion and a lodge. The Huron Sunrise Trail bicycle path connects the park to Rogers City and the 40 Mile Lighthouse county park.
Rogers City Municipal Marina has nearly 100 slips, most on floating docks. There is a fishing platform on the east wall for breakwater fishing. P. H. Hoeft State Park has one mile (1.6 km) of sandy shoreline and 301 acres (1.22 km 2) on Lake Huron. Hiking trails run through the forest and along the lake. There is a 142 site campground.

The trail beds include sand, grass, dirt, and leaf litter. The park is accessible from a parking area at 9010 North Mobley Road, west of Gunn Highway. There are areas for fishing (including catfish and catch-and-release for bass) and areas for canoe/ kayak launching. An offshoot trail leads to an overlook on neighboring Raleigh Lake.
The trail is now known as the Great Lake to Lake Trail, Route #1. This trail is made up of roughly 132 miles (212 km) of existing trails with 108 miles (174 km) of temporary routing.
