San Leandro (Spanish for "St. Leander") is a city in Alameda County, California, United States. It is located in the East Bay of the San Francisco Bay Area; between Oakland to the northwest, and Ashland, Castro Valley, and Hayward to the southeast. The population was 91,008 as of the 2020 census. [12]

The hospital that currently operates as Kindred Hospital- San Francisco Bay Area was founded in the early 1960s as San Leandro Memorial Hospital. In 1966, the hospital was purchased by a non-profit Christian based organization, the Vesper Society, and began operating as Vesper Memorial Hospital [1]

It was among the first malls in the East Bay of the San Francisco Bay Area. Anchors are Target, Kohl's and a 16-screen Cinemark Century cinema. The Macy's anchor store closed in 2024.
