The Volkswagen Transporter T7 and the passenger variant Caravelle were unveiled in August 2024. [1] Unlike the Multivan T7 based on the modular MQB platform , the Transporter T7 is based on the Ford Transit Custom .
The Volkswagen Multivan (T7) is the seventh generation of the Volkswagen large van series. The Multivan is introduced as a large MPV riding on the front-wheel drive based MQB Evo platform which categorises vehicles such as the Audi A3 and the Volkswagen Caddy. [3] The Multivan offers a range of petrol, diesel, and plug-in hybrid models. [4]
The T7 was released in November 2021 with petrol, diesel and PHEV variants and is only available as a minivan, replacing the Caravelle model for the U.K. market and Multivan in other markets. The T7 Multivan is based on Volkswagen's MQB platform.
The Multivan was originally optioned in 2021, but VW weren’t fully convinced at first but now the Multivan will be launched as a California camper variant. In 2025, Volkswagen will launch two new versions of the California. The first being the new T7 which is being sold as the Multivan in Europe after it was launched in mid 2021.
