Foxburg Country Club, established in 1887, is the oldest golf course in continuous use in the United States. It is located in Foxburg , Clarion County, Pennsylvania , United States of America , approximately 55 miles (89 km) north of Pittsburgh on a hill rising about 300 feet above the Allegheny River .
One was the Allegheny Division of the Pennsylvania Railroad, and the other was the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad. The B&O actually ran over the old Foxburg Bridge from 1921 to 1964. In addition to a golf course, the club offers banquet and dining facilities. The course resides on 170 acres (0.69 km 2), and is ranked as the #8 golf course in Pennsylvania and #3 course in the Philadelphia area by Golf Digest. The golf course is rated as #79 best classic course in America by Golfweek Magazine (2013).
Allegheny-Clarion Valley Junior/Senior High School, or A-C Valley, is a rural, public high school near Foxburg, in southwestern Clarion County, Pennsylvania, United States. In 2012, the school had 368 students in grades 7th through 12th. [2] and 40 staff Members in 2013. [3]
The new bridge was completed alongside the old Foxburg Bridge which was demolished to allow the pedestrian walkway to be added. [1] The project began in 2007 and was due to end in 2009 but the bridge opened to traffic ahead of schedule. The cost of the project was $10.1 million.
