Askham Bryan College is a specialist land-based college based in Askham Bryan, York, England. [1] [2] It also has centres in Newcastle, Middlesbrough, Saltaire and Wakefield. It was built in 1936, but not opened until after World War II as the Yorkshire Agricultural Institute. It first opened to students in 1948. [3]

Newton Rigg College was an agricultural college near Penrith, Cumbria, England, founded in 1896 as the Cumberland and Westmorland Farm School. [1] From 2011 it was part of Askham Bryan College , which in 2020 announced that it would close in 2021.

The school was founded in 1989 as the Macmillan City Technology College, one of the first of 15 City Technology Colleges established in England. Its initial sponsors were the Macmillan Trust, a charity run by Macmillan Publishers , [ 1 ] [ 2 ] The school converted to academy status in 2006.

Middlesbrough High School (Boys) – opened in October 1870 as a fee-paying school. Middlesbrough High School (Girls) – opened in August 1874. A joint new building was opened on Albert Road in 1877, but the boys and girls were taught separately. The central Middlesbrough site was in use until 1960, and then moved to Marton Road.
