Sevin is not toxic to all plants and rarely if it is mixed properly and sprayed lightly not drenched with a thick coating of residue. All chemicals do say to test on a plant leaf first to see if it is sensitive. Even organic pesticides like neem, insecticidal soap and horticultural oils are toxic.
All-round Insecticide: Chop four large onions, two cloves of garlic, and four hot chillies. Mix them together and cover with warm, soapy water and leave it to stand overnight. Strain off that liquid and add it to five litres of water to create an all-round insecticide.

The Sevin not only kills the target insect, it kills all the insect predators of that. Since the predators are much fewer and rarer and since poisons concentrate up the food chain, the one you were trying to kill comes back much faster than the predators of it, so then when the bad guy comes back (which they always do), there are no controls ...

He also said they used sevin dust on fields before they planted the seeds. The sevin dust was worked into the ground before the farmers planted thier seeds. Hi Everybody, This is my third year with a small vegetable garden in the backyard. All of it is in containers except the herbs, they're in a raised bed.
It was about 1/2" long, dark brown to black. This bug would fly away when provoked. They ate into the flower pods eating them before the blooms opened. Also, they ate/burrowed the seed pods hollowing out the seeds. I raked out the mulch underneath my plants, did a high pressure water wash, then applied Sevin on the plants including the soil.
