The Cumberland Race Track (1924-1961), also known as the Fairgo Race Track, was located just outside the west side of Cumberland, Maryland along McMullen Highway at the location of the present day Allegany County Fairgrounds. The Track facility boasted 300 horse stalls and was the first half-mile track in the state of Maryland for racing horses.
^A Separate Mercedes-Benz 300SLs and Austin-Healey 100s winners were declared in D Production at Cumberland. The Mercedes ran in a race with C Production, and the Austin-Healeys in a race with E Production. ^B D, E, and F Modified were classified together at Seafair; the combined class was won by Jack McAfee's FM Porsche 550.

The Cumberland Lodge Stakes was established in 1951, and it was initially contested over two miles. It was shortened by half a mile in 1952. The race was titled the John Collier Stakes in 1965, and the David Robinson Stakes in 1967. The present system of race grading was introduced in 1971, and the event was classed at Group 3 level.

Lonsdale Sports Arena was a one-third mile (0.54 km) high-banked paved oval race track located 2 miles (3.2 km) north of Pawtucket, Rhode Island, on Mendon Road (Rhode Island Route 122) in Cumberland, Rhode Island, on the banks of the Blackstone River. The track operated from 1947 to 1956.
The drivers invited were from a broad range of racing disciplines: Indy cars, NASCAR, sports car racing, and on occasion, sprint car racing.
