The American Institute of Indian Studies (AIIS), founded in 1961, is a consortium of 90 universities and colleges in the United States that promotes the advancement of knowledge about India in the U.S.
It is one of the two main Centers belonging to the American Institute of Indian Studies. It has its international headquarters situated in Gurgaon, Haryana. [1] Center for Art and Archaeology was established in 1965 as the American Academy of Banaras.

She has held senior research fellowships at Whitney and Betty MacMillan Center, Yale University (2007–2010) and the American Institute of Indian Studies (2007–2008). She was an Honorary Fellow of Netaji Institute for Asian Studies in Kolkata from 2017 to 2018. She also held the Whitney Griswold Fellowship at Yale University.
