Srikrishna Alanahalli (3 April 1947 – 4 January 1989) was an Indian novelist and poet.The majority of his works are written in the Kannada language.He became popular for his novels Kaadu (1972), Parasangada Gendethimma (1978) and Bhujangayyana Dasavataragalu (1982), all of which were adapted into films.
Shivaprakash was born in Bangalore in June 1954. His father Shivamurthy Shastri was an eminent Veerashaiva scholar and served under the erstwhile Maharaja of Mysore.After obtaining his MA in English literature from Bangalore University, Shivaprakash joined the Karnataka government service as an English lecturer and taught for over two decades at various colleges in Bangalore and Tumkur.

The first Kannada translation of the Kural text was made by Rao Bahadur R. Narasimhachar around 1910, who translated select couplets into Kannada. It was published under the title Nitimanjari, in which he had translated 38 chapters from the Kural, including 28 chapters from the Book of Virtue and 10 chapters from the Book of Polity. [1]
