An easier way is to use the Sirius XM app on your phone and connect it to your radio in the truck via bluetooth. It doesn't look like the base stereo supports Apple car play or Android auto, so you would have to control it from your phone. I use the app via AA in my Mustang and it works well most of the time.
If you decide to use a smartphone, you’re completely missing the only compelling feature of SiriusXM, which is the satellite feed. Anything else is just music/news/talk over the cellular network, which simply isn't available in many places. It just like comparing a stand-alone GPS receiver (Garmin, etc.) to Google or Apple Maps.
