White Tiger (Russian: Белый тигр, translit. Byeli tigr) is a 2012 Russian war film, directed by Karen Shakhnazarov and co-written with Aleksandr Borodyansky based on the novel The Tankman, or The White Tiger (Russian: Танкист, или “Белый тигр”, Tankist, ili "Byeli tigr") by Russian novelist Ilya Boyashov.
This is an allegorical movie, using tanks as a backdrop for conversation about Nazism and Europe's responsibility. The Tiger tank itself during the movie is obviously a prop, it barely resembles an actual Tiger, but that's not the point. It's more of a "white whale" metaphor, and also a stand-in for Nazism itself.
