San Felipe de Neri Church (Spanish: Iglesia de San Felipe de Neri) is a historic Catholic church located on the north side of Old Town Plaza in Albuquerque, New Mexico.Built in 1793, it is one of the oldest surviving buildings in the city and the only building in Old Town proven to date to the Spanish colonial period. It was then used as a hospital for wounded Confederate soldiers. After the war, the building was completed and dedicated under the patronage of St. Teresa of Ávila on November 19, 1882, by William Hickley Gross, who was the Bishop of Savannah at the time. [2] The church was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1975. [1]
San Miguel de Socorro is the Catholic church in Socorro, New Mexico, built on the ruins of the old Nuestra Señora de Socorro mission. The old mission was built around 1627, but was destroyed in 1680 during the Pueblo Revolt. [2] A portion of the adobe wall of the old church remains today and still can be seen behind glass just left of the altar.
