The first Cub Cadet model made was the International Cub Cadet Tractor, better known as the Original. The Cub Cadet Original was powered by a 7 hp and 8 hp replacement Kohler engine and was made between 1961 and 1963. The CJR was a hydrostatic version of the Cub Cadet transmission made by Sundstrand Corporation.

A commercial zero-turn lawn mower with two pivoting front wheels. A zero-turn riding lawn mower (colloquially, a z-turn or zero turn) is a standard riding lawn mower with a turning radius that is effectively zero when the two drive wheels rotate in opposite direction, like a tank turning in place.
In 1981 the Cub Cadet product line was acquired from International Harvester, and the White Outdoor Products Company was acquired from the old White Motor Company. In 1985 the company's Martin, Tennessee plant began operation, and Arnold Corporation was acquired. In 1986 Aircap Industries in Tupelo, Mississippi was acquired.
The Cub was initially designated the Farmall X, and was to use a two-cylinder engine. [1] Development started in July, 1943, changing to a four-cylinder engine. A prototype was built by December 1944. In September 1945, it became the Farmall Cub. [2] The two major variations of the Cub were the "Standard Cub" and the "Lo-Boy Cub" (or "Cub Lo-Boy").
The first S-Series tractors were produced starting in 1959 [6] and would be made with the same basic concepts being used until 1974. In 1959, the S-14 and S-23 were made available for purchase.
