The process culminated at the NOCSA annual general meeting on 27 November 2004, when NOCSA member bodies formed SASCOC, initially as a Section 21 non-profit company. The various predecessor bodies of SASCOC were dissolved during the course of 2005 and their functions, insofar as they relate to high performance sport, were taken over by SASCOC.

The South African Gymnastics Federation is the overall governing body of the sports of gymnastics in South Africa. [2] Established in 1931, the body is affiliated to the International Federation of Gymnastics, the African Gymnastics Union and the South African Sports Confederation and Olympic Committee (SASCOC), and recognized by Sport and Recreation South Africa (SRSA).
South Africa first participated at the Olympic Games in 1904, and sent athletes to compete in every Summer Olympic Games until 1960. After the passage of United Nations General Assembly Resolution 1761 in 1962 in response to South Africa's policy of apartheid, the nation was barred from the Games.
CHESS SA is affiliated with SASCOC, and organises national competitions such as the South African Closed Chess Championship and the South African Open Chess Championship. CHESS SA was established in 1996 following unification discussions among several chess ruling bodies in existence during the apartheid era.
