45,X/46,XY mosaicism, also known as X0/XY mosaicism and mixed gonadal dysgenesis, [1] is a mutation of sex development in humans associated with sex chromosome aneuploidy and mosaicism of the Y chromosome. It is a fairly rare chromosomal disorder at birth, with an estimated incidence rate of about 1 in 15,000 live births. [2]
Turner syndrome (TS), commonly known as 45,X, or 45,XO, [note 1] is a chromosomal disorder in which cells have only one X chromosome or are partially missing an X chromosome (sex chromosome monosomy) leading to the complete or partial deletion of the pseudoautosomal regions (PAR1, PAR2) in the affected X chromosome.
46,XX/46,XY chimeric or mosaic is associated with a wide spectrum of different physical presentations, with cases ranging from having a completely normal male or female phenotype [7] [8] [9] to some cases having ovotesticular syndrome. Due to this variation, genetic testing is the only way to reliably make a diagnosis.
Also monosomies can present with some form of mosaicism. The only non-lethal full monosomy occurring in humans is the one causing Turner's syndrome. Around 30% of Turner's syndrome cases demonstrate mosaicism, while complete monosomy (45, X) occurs in about 50–60% of cases. Mosaicism isn't necessarily deleterious, though.
Monosomy, with the presence of only one chromosome (instead of the typical two in humans) from a pair, which affects chromosome 14. Fetuses with monosomy 14 are not viable. [ 1 ] Only mosaic cases exist and these usually present with severe symptoms such as intellectual disability , ocular colobomata , microcephaly , and seizures .
Sex chromosome anomalies belong to a group of genetic conditions that are caused or affected by the loss, damage or addition of one or both sex chromosomes (also called gonosomes).
While American Indians and Alaska Natives saw the largest increases in life expectancy between 2021 and 2022, they still experienced the shortest life expectancy — 65.6 years for men and 67.9 ...
Diploid-triploid mosaicism is a human chromosome disorder. Individuals with diploid-triploid syndrome have some cells with three copies of each chromosome for a total of 69 chromosomes (called triploid cells) and some cells with the usual 2 copies of each chromosome for a total of 46 chromosomes (called diploid cells).
