My experience with cat treats, Temptation Cat Treats chicken flavor to be exact sent my boy Simon to the vet with kidney problems and crystals. He had surgery and was in the hospital for 11 days, when he was 5. We only gave him 2 in the morning and 2 at night, he loved them.
1. Dear, Tuco. I heard your experience with Temptations cat treats. First of all, its not good to give your cat 10 treats a day. Treats are like candy to cats. Second of all, if you want your cat to be healthy, get better cat treats for her/him. Temptations can be like treats that you give them maybe twice a week.
Temptations is one of the number selling cat treats in America; if cats were dropping left and right from them it would be noticeable. I think the reason there are multiple threads on here about them is because nearly everyone who has a cat has used them at some point, at least here in the USA (I can't speak for other countries).
Purraise. 20,615. Location. Los Angeles. If the cat vomited, I would not feed them. Temptations has been the object of a Facebook post, seemingly unproven, which alleged certain things about their toxicity. Snopes has also declared it unproven but they are considered to be sort of "junk" food. Apr 23, 2020. #6.
There is a thread here on TCS that claims Temptations kills cats but take what is said there with a grain of salt. As with Human treats and snacks, choose healthy ones over junky ones.
Temptations seems a rare instance of a brand that lives up to the commercials. Cats love those flipping things. Maybe he thinks that you'll give more if he holds out. Find out the schedule the absentee feeders used, use that, and I suspect the cat will eat. Dry food has a lot of calories, a cat doesn't need a huge volume of it.
Offer her some shaved deli turkey instead, or something more healthy. Put down her regular food, and pick it up after an hour or so. Kitten food is higher in calories and nutrition, you might try that for a while. My cats get very spoiled too, pretty quickly. But they will still eat if they get hungry enough.
Personally I think 16 treats a day is a bit much, I only give my cats about 3 each if I give Temptations, there is a lot of debate about those treats too. Cats love them but they are treats. As for the hairball treatment the petroleum based ones like hartz are not the best thing for cats, it acts as a laxative which can cause issues like ...
Cat treats should consist of no more than ten percent of your cat’s overall diet. Less, if your cat has existing weight problems or other health issues. Treats are in no way meant to replace nutrient-rich cat food. But, if you gave your cat the choice, you know exactly which they’d pick.
They both died within 2 months of each other of kidney failure. I never told the vet about the treats. Today, my 13 year old cat was diagnosed with kidney failure. She always gets 8-10 Temptations treats per day. This time, I made the comment about the Temptations treats, and the Vet said that's the cause of the kidney failure.
