I recently bought a zebra danio for my turtle tank (as she does great with danios). I bought them from Walmart for a dollar each, but I found one with a really interesting tail. i have a 75 gallon tank with a 7-8" painted turtle. im using a 1300gph powerhead pointing down the front of the tank, and a 800gph powerhead blowing across the back of the tank towards the intake tube of the filter. im using a sunsun 304b canister filter. the powerheads keep everything moving around and eventually the filter will pick it up. plus yea it keeps the water circulated.
I completely freaked out when it happened, my post might seem calm and collected but real life I was absolutely panicked, took a LONG time for my heart to slow down. Im glad your turtle made it out ok from a simular ordeal, mine seem unfazed, just wanted to hide. Wish I could say the same for the...

The Home Depot here carries the DAP brand and Walmart carries the Aqua-Tech brand. If it doesn't say "aquarium safe" on the package, check the back of the tube to see if it says "fish safe" somewhere.

The black-knobs will bre pretty happy in the same basic setup as a pascagoula map. when you go to the 40Gbreeder, i would suggest a RENA XP3 filter. it will last that tank a long time, and give you great water quality. A black knob map will also enjoy playing in the heavy output flow from the jet nozzle.
If you have fish in the tank with the turtle (s) then yes, use water conditioner as it impacts their gills and their ability to breathe. If no fish and the water changes are 20% or less weekly, then you don't need it. The chlorine in the new water is diluted enough that it shouldn't irritate the turtle's eyes or mucus membranes.
Posted September 4, 2012. I've used quickcrete brand play sand on all of my tanks with lots of fish and haven't had any problems. It does need to be washed even if it says "prewashed". I have turtles, guppies, plecos, cory cats, ghost shrimp, and snails.
Plants are part of nature and can improve the quality, health, vitality, and beauty of an aquatic habitat if done correctly. Keeping live plants in a turtle turtle tank is a bit more challenging than keeping them in a fish tank, mainly because of the low light, and because you have to be a bit more selective.
