Free blocky rust basically. Early Access, but it's free. Survival, MMO, weird creatures/monsters, pretty big world, no crafting that I know of. Honestly there are basically no "good free survival games" but Nomad is a good one. But if your not into it then I would just wait till Rust, Ark, Raft, etc are on sale.

I am asking this because of my friend. We both hate that we can't play ARK together because we are not both on Steam (I am on Steam, but he is on Epic Games). These days it is expected from games to have easy-to-access Multiplayer option without any difficulties to play with friend and other players. Thanks for answers in advance!
Dead Island series, Dying Light are good games but nothing like Day Z. There's also 7 days to die, which can be played solo and has similarities with Day Z.
