The Bristol and Gloucester company planned to form part of a chain of railways connecting to Gloucester and the huge manufacturing district of Birmingham. It was authorised to purchase the Bristol and Gloucestershire company, and to build a new line from Westerleigh on that line as far as Standish, about 11 miles (18 km) short of Gloucester.

The Supreme Novices' Hurdle is a Grade 1 National Hunt hurdle race in Great Britain which is open to horses aged four years or older. It is run on the Old Course at Cheltenham over a distance of about 2 miles and ½ furlong (2 miles and 87 yards, or 3,298 metres), and during its running there are eight hurdles to be jumped.

Cappahosic House, also known as Baytop House and Cappahosic Ferry House, is a historic home located near Gloucester, Gloucester County, Virginia. It was built in around 1751, and is a two-story, three bay brick dwelling in the Georgian style. It has a basement and is topped by a standing seam jerkinhead red tin roof.
Gloucester City Council purchased the assets of the horse-drawn Gloucester Tramways Company in 1902, with the intention of electrifying and extending the service. The horse tramway had been built to the 4' gauge, but the replacement electric service was built to the 3'6" gauge. The contractor for the rebuilding was George Law of Kidderminster.
