Larry Walther (born January 9, 1946) [1] is an American politician who served as the 40th Treasurer of Arkansas from August 2023 to January 2025. He was appointed to the position by Governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders on August 3, 2023, after his predecessor, Mark Lowery , died of a stroke.
The position was created in 1819 when Arkansas became a territory. When Arkansas became a state in 1836, its constitution established the Office of the Treasurer, a position that would be elected by the legislature, and was later changed to a statewide elected post.
