The most widely known Indus Valley sites are Mohenjo-daro and Harappa; Mohenjo-daro is located in modern-day Sindh, while Harappa is in Pakistani Punjab. [6] in British India, around 1,100 (80%) sites are located on the plains between the rivers Ganges and Indus. [3]

A similar bronze statuette was found by Mackay during his final full season of 1930–31 at DK-G area in a house at Mohenjo-daro. The preservation, as well as quality of craftsmanship, is inferior to that of the well known Dancing Girl. [12] This second bronze female figure is displayed at the National Museum of Pakistan, Pakistan. [15]
The history of the stance is often said to reach back to the famous Dancing Girl from Mohenjo-Daro, of about c. 2300–1750 BCE, [7] although this does not exactly show the usual later form. It may well derive from dance before art, [8] but the remaining record in early art is more clear. The earliest versions are nearly all in female figures ...
