The following is a list of lakes in Ohio. According to the Ohio Department of Natural Resources , there are approximately 50,000 lakes and small ponds, with a total surface area of 200,000 acres, and among these there are 2,200 lakes of 5 acres (2.0 ha) or greater with a total surface area of 134,000 acres. The Clear Fork River is located near the town of Loudonville, OH, about one hour north of the city of Columbus, OH. It is divided into two parts, the Upper and the Lower branches. It was first stocked in the early 1980s by local fishing clubs, and the ODNR began in 1992 to stock it annually with 6"-8" brown trout.
Entrance to Blue Hole. The Blue Hole is a fresh water pond and cenote located in Castalia, Erie County, Ohio, in the United States.From the 1920s to 1990 the Blue Hole was a tourist site, attracting 165,000 visitors annually at the height of its popularity, partly because of its location on State Route 269, about 7 miles (11 km) southwest of the Cedar Point amusement park in Sandusky, Ohio.
The river traverses five Ohio counties, [1] Columbiana, Stark, Portage, Trumbull, and Mahoning, as well as Lawrence County, Pennsylvania. The watershed area also includes parts of Ashtabula and Geauga counties in Ohio. The three main tributaries are Mosquito Creek, West Branch, and Eagle Creek, all in Ohio. There are 15 dams on the river course.
There is also an Ohio Department of Natural Resources fish hatchery located below Senecaville Dam. This facility was acquired from the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service in 1987. The hatchery has 37 ponds containing a total of 37 acres (150,000 m 2) of water. The facility also has two outdoor raceways and 18 indoor rearing troughs.
Today, a ski resort named Mad River Mountain is located near the stream's source. Mad River is the largest coldwater fishery in Ohio. [ citation needed ] The Ohio Department of Natural Resources 's Division of Wildlife periodically stocks Mad River with rainbow trout and brown trout . [ 9 ]
