La Salle High School of Yakima is a Catholic Lasallian college-preparatory high school. The school's pedagogy is based on the teachings of St. John Baptist de La Salle, who founded the first Lasallian school in Reims, France in 1685. [2] La Salle High School was opened in 1998 to replace Carroll High School, which had closed in the late 1980s.
It is the oldest continually operating school in Washington state. [1] Located in the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Seattle , the school is governed by an independent Board of Trustees, and is under the trusteeship of the Sisters of the Holy Names; a number of religious sisters are on the board or the faculty/staff.
