At the international level, qualifying MLS clubs competed in the 2025 CONCACAF Champions Cup, and qualifying NWSL clubs are competing in the inaugural 2025–26 CONCACAF W Champions Cup. Two MLS clubs, Inter Miami CF and Seattle Sounders FC , will play in the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup hosted by the United States.
Qualification for the 2025 tournament includes local qualifying matches contested by 114 amateur teams, fighting for 14 local qualifying slots, and is scheduled to take place in 2024. One team also qualified by winning the 2024 National Amateur Cup and one team qualified by winning the 2024 United Premier Soccer League Spring Championships.
The field expanded from eight to eleven teams for the 2020 and 2021 editions. Starting in 2022, the tournament reduced back to ten total participating teams. In 2024, the tournament reduced down to eight total teams.The winner, declared conference champion, receives the conference's automatic bid to the NCAA Division I women's soccer championship.
